Does anyone have the definitive story on why this great place went out of business a few years ago? |

That wasn't the kind of cheese people expected. |

The customer service was rather cheesy. (It seems this thread is a race to see who can come up with the worst one liner.) |

I heard she did not have a very good business sense, seems she had a lot of half-baked ideas. A former employee of hers also told me Kathy was lactose intolerant and was constantly cutting the cheese in the backroom, so her employees didn't stay around long. |

Unfortunately, you may never have had one of her cheesecakes. The store on Six Mile cranked some great stuff and she had expanded her sales to the Royal Oak Farmer's Market too. It was a different cheesecake than most people are used to around here. Still it was good and sorely missed. |

Maybe the BIG CHEESE at the inevitable Cheesecake Factory squeezed her out, and she is going into home loans. |

I grew up the old 6 mile location which is an ice cream store now.. I don't know if it is still open. But they had the best cheesecakes but there was really no business there. The only good place left in Rosedale is Knudsens Bakery. |

An ice cream store? Paul has told us on many occasions that there is nothing left in the city and specifically his neighborhood. I've got to believe Paul and call bs on this alleged ice cream place. |

Kathy's cheescakes was on McNichols near warwick air. I didn't know they closed up shop. AIR Kathy's cheesecakes was a relative newcomer they opened in the late 70's or so. They sold small distinctive-tasting cheesecakes, these were not the run of the mill cheesecakes nor were these the sorta cheesecakes that are common today that are whipped up into gigantic porportions (like at the oft mentioned cheesecake factory or those shown over and over again on the food network). There was a stretch of distinctive bakery/deli's etc along that strech of McNichols once upon a time: Knudsen's bakery, Kathy's, a take out only specalty deli whose name escapes me (you could get fancy finger food for parties there), and a small Syrian grocer on Ashton and McNicholls that carried high end and specialty meats. |

As someone that has so much contempt for this city you spend a lot of time on this forum. And you call us idiots. Should I send you a mirror or do you have one at home to look into. |

If you're looking for a good bakery in the Rosedale Park area, be sure to stop by Reen's Cakes & Things (I don't know why florists, bakers, etc. can't avoid using "& things" phrase) on Grand River, just east of the Sfld Fwy, next door to the Wendy's. They have personal sized cheesecake and other wonderful treats that are great. |

Cheese cakes didn't refer to actual cheese cakes...and she's gettin' older. |
