http://www.publicbroadcasting. net/michigan/news.newsmain?act ion=article&ARTICLE_ID=1111510 "The ordinance will require landlords to meet with city officials after police are called to a rental property five times. Landlords could lose their permits if the problems aren't resolved. The ordinance will also require annual permits, rather than the one-time only permitting process that exists now when a unit is placed on the rental market for the first time. Brandell says the ordinance is based on similar ordinances that were adopted in Ann Arbor, East Lansing, and Holland. The ordinance will be introduced at a special Thursday city council meeting. It could be adopted as early as next week, but Brandell says it's likely the public comment period will be longer than that. " Hmm, an idea for Detroit? |

I don't think that Detroit would be able to enforce it but I like the idea. Anytime a city is pro-active with this stuff is a good thing. |

Detroit has something like this in place already. It has worked several times in the midtown neighborhood. It just takes a while to get through all the court hearings. |

Lansing area does this as well... keeps the landlords on your case when you get tickets i.e. noise violation, etc |
