I am reading a biography of Joan Crawford. The book says that in the early 1920s Joan performed at the Oriole Terrace night club. Any information on this? Also the book says she was once arrested in Detroit and the studio bosses had the arrest records destroyed

The Oriole Terrace Ballroom was originally the Duplex Theatre (circa 1915). It became the Oriole Terrace in the '20s, the Jazz Age, and then in the late 1930s it was the Grand Terrace Ballroom. However, the club is best remembered as the classy Latin Quarter, when it featured top entertainment during the '50s and '60s. Its last incarnation was as the Grand Quarters night club.

The building is still extant, but the original ornate facade was long ago replaced by a corrugated steel front. The address is 3067-3073 E. Grand Blvd.

It's a historic space. Too bad someone doesn't do something with the building.
