It was Currents, then a woman took it over and re-made the place and called it McNarney's. I walk past there to get to work, and it doesn't seem like it's been open for ages. Did she just not do well there? It's such a fantastic location, and was packed with RenCen people when it used to be Currents. I can't see how anyone would have a hard time getting business in that location. ~Liza |

I also did some research about it. A women came to run it from another restaurant either Opus One or somewhere in R.O. There was some sort of fight between her and some of the people she started it with. I really do not think that location is that hot. The guy who started Currents put a lot of money into that building. |

They made such a big deal about its opening just a few months ago. So stupid. You lose credibility when you come and go; sure it's all about making the money to get by, but who will go there when/if they re-open, knowing that they probably won't be a mainstay. In two years, it will be a different story, as actual residents will be moving in, and more people will be milling around the streets in what will become a great mixed use neighborhood. |

Also, how can Asian Village be having a rough time when it hasn't even opened yet? Sure, the doors are open, but only the sushi bar is officially open for public business. The upscale restaurant Fusia (which has GREAT decor, BTW) is scheduled to open soon... |

I spoke with the bartender on a Saturday night around 11 p.m. a few weeks back. She said they usually close around that time, especially if it's dead, which it was at that time. She also mentioned that they are not open on Sundays unless "something is going on along the river walk or Chene Park." After that conversation, we visited at about 11 p.m. on a Saturday again, but it was closed. Closed at 11 on a Saturday? That's never a strong indication that business is going well. It's a great-looking place with a solid menu, but it's so tucked away and it appears as if they have little word of mouth going on. Nice bar, I hope it manages to stay open and/or keep some consistent hours. |

Within the first 6 weeks following their opening, I was there on three Saturday nights to hear the bands. Only one of the three nights was there a decent crowd upstairs all night long; the other two times it was painfully almost empty. All the bands were good and known to have a following. Sounds like they haven't been able to get over the hump and draw in the weekend evening crowds. Too bad, because everyone that I took there enjoyed the food, the entertainment, and the atmosphere. But I haven't been back since Shannen and Lisa were booted out. And their website appears to be defunct, so it's hard to determine who's playing there. |

i have been there for dinner twice since shannen left. most recently was this past friday before the romantics show. our server told us then that they were in the process of a name change, but were definitely going to remain open. |

Had a beer there tonight. There was a party upstairs with light traffic on the ground floor of the bar. |

I learned this morning that my favorite local Irish band--Bruno's Boys--that was featured at McNarney's St. Patrick's Party Grand Opening has had their gig there tonight cancelled as well as their two scheduled September performances. One less reason to go to McNarney's! |

I was there last night. The service was very friendly and it was a decent, mixed crowd. I couldn't stay long enough to see if more people spilled over after the RenCen concert, though. I'm going to start taking the friends there more often. I dig that place, especially the deck. |
