Who is responsible for the condition of those tracks? You go over those tracks at normal speed and you risk messing up your car. If you slow down (Which most people do) you have to hope that the person behind you is on the same page so they don't smash into you. For the large number of cars that travel 8 Mile you'd thing the responsible party would address this problem. On most roads it's the traffic lights that slow you down. On 8 Mile the only thing that practically brings you to a stop are those tracks. I want to bitch to someone about those tracks and need to know who to contact. Thanks for any help. |

Come to think about it, the way you're discussing the conditions of the Tracks, I'm now afraid something may go wrong and one of those 3 PM trains will derail onto the Road. |

It is the former GTW, now CN line, I believe. |

The GTW still exists although more and more of its equipment today carries the CN logo of its parent corporation. The GTW subsidiary is the US arm of the CN. |

You probably have to go through MDOT considering 8 Mile Rd is considered a state highway. But don't hold you're breath. At least you only have the one set of tracks on the East Side. Come Downriver and you can't go a mile without having to cross tracks, and most of them are just as bad as the ones you describe. |

Not really, We have 2 (occasionally 3) and all of the trains are slower than a turtle. 2 of them run across 8 Mile. Fortunately, the ones in the old Industrial zones along I-75 are obsolete now. The Westside probably has it best (except for Downriver near all the Industrial Places). |

I wonder why they didn't just build a viaduct like they did for the tracks by the fairgrounds. Seems like traffic volumes in both areas should be pretty similar. |

Go here and contact Deb Brown: http://www.michigan.gov/mdot/0 ,1607,7-151-11056_22444-59617- -,00.html We've had success with MDOT assisting to get a local crossing fixed. |
