Rifle river, Au Sable river, Pinnebog river, Pine River. Those are all in the Northern Lower Peninsula. |

platte river by frankfort is pretty nice. the "long" version takes almost all day, but there is a shorter version is only a few hours. it empties out into lake michigan. crystal river in glen arbor is pretty nice too. altho i think the water level is kinda low this year, so i'm not sure how nice it'll be. my dad used to do the rifle river, but it's gotten pretty rowdy in the past. it might've improved in the past few years, but i haven't heard. |

Holy Moly, how can you ask such a question? Rivers abound in this State. Try the Manistee or the Au Sable, Pere Marquette, the Jordan River, the Pine......the Rifle is strickly for the rowdy people http://www.michiganpaddlesport s.com/ |

I was just on the rifle beginning in the Rifle River State park. The river doesn't have much of a current at that point and the levels make it impossible in at least 1/4th of it. Once you leave the park property it picks up though. |

Probably a good idea to avoid the Rouge, although it's been done..... |

When I saw the title of the thread I thought maybe you were talking about steel or plastic tubing like a construction project or something. Duh. |

Any flowing stream is okay as long as it's wide enough. I was flyfishing on a northern stream last week and saw tubers having fun. I really don't care for it myself though. I'd rather paddle a canoe. Just one request: Don't litter! |

My granddaughter was at camp in Wolverine, MI...they take those kids tubing on the Sturgeon River. She said it was great. Saw a little stand right in Wolverine, just of I-75 with canoes and tubes, I think. |

I would agree about the Rifle River up in the park (Lupton). There are places where it is just plain hard pushing. That section has a lot less of the yahoos you find down in Sterling/Skidway Lake. |
