School's colors are still Burgundy and light blue...still has over 2,200 students, many more than the building is designed for.

For general information, especially since we rarely hear anything positive about schools:

For the Class of 2007, Mumford graduated 455 students.

Those 455 Seniors generated 2,036,559.00 in scholarships and grants.

They would get a more formal education at Michigan State University.....where academics are stressed and they will actually have an experience on a real campus instead of a place like Ann Arbor. I think there is a university located between the buildings located in downtown AA.....not a real college experience...

Sam Taub - helluva Golf Coach; not-so-good of a basketball referee....I used to heckle that guy to no-end whenever he reffed games at WMU.

Honestly though, Sam was a good guy....and a good swim coach too.

Mackenzie High School salutes Mumford, Cooley, Redford, Henry Ford, and Cody - Long Live the Northwest Division of the good old Detroit Public Secondary Schools Athletic League...or DPSSAL for short (just like Sam).

CJ - Sam the student and referee was mentored by my father who also knew him from Roosevelt Elementary and later when he was a young BBall official. I think he also had a stint as BBall coach at Mumford.....The EAstside rocked too with Denby, Pershing, SEastern, Osborn, Eastern and Cass......Mackenzie will be missed

Eastside61...yes Sam Taub was a good basketball coach. The '69 Mustangs won the PSL championship and went to the Class A "final four" before losing to (I think) Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills.

Taub was also an outstanding basketballer in college at U of D. At Mumford, he used to show us squirts how well he could shoot; he would stand at the center circle in the gym and fire up these uncanny two-hand set shots. All net time after time. Sam was one of a kind.

G - TAub learned that set shot from my father who was a PE teacher at Roosevelt Elementary - Roosevelt's gym had these girders running across and they would stand at mid court and shoot through the rafters to the basket.....the good old days

CJav- we need to add Finney to the mix, too

Let's also invite the Crusaders of King, the Eskimos of Northern, the Prospectors of Southwestern, and the Falcons of Northeastern to this here Party!
