Not to be confused with the greening of Detroit. I was thrilled to see that a new state park is being built in the city. Does anyone know anything about this? Will you need a pass like the other state parks? How many acres will it be? From the web site: Located in the heart of downtown Detroit, Tri-Centennial State Park and Harbor is the first urban state park and will become a showcase of the natural resources collected throughout all of Michigan's state parks. This green oasis in the heart of the city provides opportunities for picnics, walks and shore fishing. The 52-slip harbor of refuge is newly renovated and provides transient rental spaces for larger boats. Location: Take East Jefferson and turn south on St. Aubin Street. |

There is no charge at State Parks for walk-ins and bike-ins. I don't see that changing. The park's current and planned parking lots will likely require a motor vehicle pass. Unlike nearly all other states, our state parks no longer receive any taxpayer dollars. The DNR is exploring options for generating revenue at Tri-Centennial. For example, a small portion of the Boblo Boat tour and concession fees go to the park. |

Being built? That's been there for at least 3-4 years, I'm fairly sure. |

Maybe they'll decide to move the Grand Prix there if drivers bitch about the Belle Isle paddock. What's a park in this city if it's not welcoming to cars? |

Not sure where the Riverwalk ends and Tri-centennial starts but it's all interconnected. |

When I went camping a few weeks back, the literature still said the park was not completed. Apparently, they opened this spring. Thanks for all the info. |

Phase 1 of the park is complete and has been for several years. The linked article is undated and I believe a few years old. The next phase of construction was supposed to be start this summer with an expansion of the park and connection to the dequindre cut. No pass needed for the park. There is a slip fee if you go by boat. |

Does anyone have a pdf of the map of what it will look like when it is done? The pic on the Concervancy website doesn't zoom, and you can't really see the detail as to what the park will look like when it is done. |
