I have a relative coming to town soon who plays folk/bluegrass. Can anyone tell me some interesting music venues or bars we can visit. |

If you want the hardcore bluegrass experience, I recommend the Kentuckians of Michigan in Romulus or the Huron Valley Eagles Club in Flat Rock. Sometimes these clubs bring in big-name bands, but there are none scheduled over the next few weeks. Among the local groups, I recommend Marion Blue, which is appearing at both spots. Despite the name, you do not have to be from Kentucky to get into Kentuckians of Michigan. Schedules for both venues are at: http://www.michiganbluegrass.c om/mb-shows.html If you're out Ann Arbor way (decent reception into western Wayne County), check out the show I cohost, Bill Monroe for Breakfast, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon on WCBN-FM, 88.3. |

Do the Cass Avenue Ramblers fit into this category. I have never seen them but I think they play at Cadieux Caf often. Metrotimes.com may also have listing for folk and bluegrass performances in Metro Detroit. I tried to check fro you but it is painfully slow right now. |

I'll have to check it out. A while ago on here you mentioned the Carolina Chocolate Drops. I got their cd and liked it. Thanks for the tip! |

Metro Times site is slow on Tuesdays, it's because they're putting the new issue up. There's the Sunday morning session at the Steak Hut. http://www.metrotimes.com/edit orial/story.asp?id=10638 (if you can get in) |
