Yeah, another Detroit government official is stealing from the city. Actually, this is done all the time.

That's a good start, now let's hope it has its effect throughout the system.

Kudos to the news and David Josar (I think he wrote the article but it isn't coming up for me) on exposing the fraud and waste.

Funny how we need to have our news reporting agencies as a Checks and Balance in Detroit. Only in Detroit. Is this their job or someone elses job?

Detroit's Ghetto Politics is not working. Something needs to be done like recalling the entire city " CLOWNSIL" including King Kwame.

I'm sure Steve Wilson has some dirt of some sort that he's going to dig up on Kwame. That's his specialty, likely because it's so easy to do!

The pervasive and deeply ingrained anti-Detroit bias in this region has reached a point where people are willfully ignoring logic, reason, and factual information, because their opinions and viewpoints are so distorted by this mindset.

This post by Rjlj is a perfect example of just how powerful and consuming that anti-Detroit bias has become:
quote:

Funny how we need to have our news reporting agencies as a Checks and Balance in Detroit. Only in Detroit. Is this their job or someone elses job?

Only in Detroit? Have you ever heard of Watergate???

Freedom of the press, especially freedom of the press to act as a check and balance to the government, is one of the most important and fundamental aspects of a democratic government. The First Amendment guarantees free speech and freedom of the press for these very reasons.

The free press in America, and other democratic countries, has been instrumental in exposing government corruption, oversight, mismanagement, and injustice around the world.

From exposing bribes in a small town, to spotlighting questionable tax credits in Detroit, to investigating a presidential cover-up in Washington, to telling the world about genocide in the Sudan, the free press has a responsibility to inform the public about the actions (or inactions) of our government that we would otherwise be unaware of.
----------------------

Either Rjlj is simply unaware of the function and responsibilities of the press in a democratic society, or anti-Detroit bias has destroyed his ability to comprehend the basic concepts of a democracy.

EricD, you are absolutly right. dang, I'm sick and tired of those Outsiders that come to The D and appoint people to boards with the full knowledge that those people will rob us.

And I is just fed up with those Outsiders casting votes in our elections and putting in folks like Kwame.

There is obviously an anti-detroit bias around here; heck otherwise there would be no crooks stealing copper, the 911 would work, the streets would get plowed, my neighbors would mow their grass.

Those Outsiders who hate Detroit, appointed those crooked Board Members, in fact I bet them Board Members are Outsiders. I'm with you EricD, if it wasn't for Outsiders the D would be a much better place.

In fact, them Outsiders all have Anti-Detroit feelings, I can tell because (like you) I have xray vision.

Seems like the city could do almost as much boosting to its PR image by not allowing these stupid acts to happen as it could by lowering crime...

Keep it coming!!

The problem with this check and balance is that the people have to pay attention for it to work. And it seems nobody is.
