So the big day is fast approaching and I'm starting to put together ideas about where to go for my bachelor party. Any input from the board? I'm looking for a classy sort of lounge night- suits and such. I'm thinking about trying to put together a prix fixe somewhere downtown for dinner. Centaur maybe? Then Cliff Bell's for a few rounds. Roll over to Pulse around 10 and make it to the Shillelagh for last call. Having never been to either Centaur or Pulse, any reviews? Drink prices? Has anyone ever eaten at Centaur before? Other ideas for dinner or lounges? I thought prix fixe would be best to keep costs down. All said and done, I think a $125 night per person is the budget we're floating. |

Congrats on the impending nuptials. My only other suggestion for something a little more high brow might be for Atlas. I've always dug the woodsy class of that joint. |

Or you could all just belly up to the Lafayette or American Coney, slide down a few and take the remaining money to spend on the shoe models over in Windsor for that drunken debacle... if you want to do the flipside of class. |

I wouldn't recommend Centaur for Dinner. Not that the food isn't good, but it's a tapas spot. Not exactly bachelor party fare. Atlas is a good call, and it's only a half mile down Woodward to the Park Ave. District. Opus One is another recommendation. And it's a hope skip to the People Mover, which you could take to the Park Ave district. I believe they have a side room you may be able to reserve. www.opus-one.com For the real old-school "men only" vibe take him to the Caucus Club... |

Pulse is cool in that its small and intimate. You can kninda take over the back part of the place and bar if you're looking for that angle. Both there and Centaur are higher prices, though Centaur I believe is a bit cheaper on beer and actually has stuff under $5 a drink. Centaur has a refined environment and an always changing crowd. The three levels there are all different. |

It's a bachelor party. You should probably check out Chix on Dix or Atlantis Lounge. |

Thanks for the ideas, folks. I think Atlas sounds like a great idea- hadn't thought about that. Caucus Club sounds really classy too. Can't wait, I think it's going to be a blast! |

Forgot to ask: what sort of music do they play at Pulse and Centaur? I suppose I just assumed they were both dub or ambient sort of places. Pulse maybe more on the electronica side of life. |

Don't go to the Caucus Club. I went there on a Friday night at 7:00 and there was only one other table. It was a joke. I ended up leaving and going to Seldom Blues instead. |

I'd hit Atlas for dinner ... but try to get to the club at MGM ... it's a pretty nice place (and you could hit the casino afterwards...) |
