Hubie Crawford who was the house bassist with the SBH trio at Bert's Marketplace was found dead Halloween. He was a very gentle and kind man.

Hubie was Earl Klugh's bassist for 7 years. During this period, Hubie was featured on 4 of Earl Klugh's successful albums. Hubie Crawford has also performed with Mel Torme; Motown writers, Holland Dosier Holland and Mose Allison; Jazz guitarists Kenny Burrell and Herb Ellis; Marlena Shaw; and other national artists.

Hubie was an outstanding bassist, consumate professional who knew how to make other musicians sound good, a gentleman, and a supporter of jazz education. His presence will be missed- at Berts and any other place that you would be lucky enough to catch him at around Detroit.

God rest your soul.
