Maybe Gambling Man can help me here. Just wondering where the Greektown hotel intends to position itself. Are they going for luxury accomodations like the other two to attract the serious gamblers with comps or is the hotel planning to be more of a mid-range property? With its proximity to the ballparks, they can fill the hotel with paying customers (regular folks like me) every weekend if they keep the rates under $200 and maybe just have a luxury level for the top 50 suites. |

Good question - that would be fun to stay there and go to a Lions/Tiger game or concert |

Giving this a bump in hopes that Gambling Man or someone else with inside info has an answer. |

Sorry, I didn't see the post....Our hotel should have a four-star feel with a three-star price tag. Our hotel rooms will be smaller than the rooms at the other two.....we are not planning on charging anywhere near the current "asking" price of the other two. I would say we will be at $159-179 weekend and $99-159 weekday, depending upon what kind of gamer you are......... |

I'm not a casino expert ('though I visit Vegas once or twice a year for many years). When it comes to hotels one needs to figure how the location fits into one's lifestyle and activities. As Bobj suggests, the Greektown location near CoPa or Ford Field would seem to be a big +. Based on that, if I were coming to detroit for a Tigers' weekend (I've done that before), I'd most likely choose the RenCen or Greektown (I chose the RenCen the last time). Each of which offers more to me then say MGM or Motor City. |

Don't forget about the Hilton Garden or the newly renovated Milner... |

Thanks Gambling Man. I forgot that a casino's prime time for rooms is weekends as opposed to downtown business hotels. That's great for me as I usually get to Detroit a couple of times during the week in the summer for Tiger games but end up in the burbs or Windsor because the downtown hotels are double the weekend rate. |

Don, you're a Canadian: who cares what the price is in lowly US dollars! |

UpinOttawa, I heard the 401 goes east from Toronto now as well? I always thought it was just a long driveway built to get me from my house to Motown! |
