Does anybody know the approximate square footage of the Hudson's site that Quicken Loans is considering? I was told 95,000 but that seems a bit large, doesn't it?

Thanks in advance all!

IIRC, the dimensions are 420 by 220 feet, according to Jean Maddern Pitrone's Hudson's book. But I don't know if that's the whole block, or was just the building itself. If you really want to be exact, remember that the Woodward sidewalk was widened for the ill-starred "Woodward Mall" project.

greatlakes: 2 acres = 87,120 sq ft
burnsie: 420 x 220 = 96,800
google earth: 418 x 218 (approx) = 91,124

so your 95,000 sq foot estimate seems pretty close, at least as close as we can reasonably get without getting out there and measuring it ourselves.

Burnsie, I'm not familiar with the 'Woodward Mall' project that you speak of. Could you give me some more information?

"I'm not familiar with the 'Woodward Mall' project"

Ever see those big granite cylinders along lower woodward (not sure if they are still out there)? Apparently they were going to anchor a canopy structure.

The idea was to turn that stretch of woodward into a pedestrian mall. The road would be closed off to cars, and there would be a canopy and landscaping, etc. It was a modernization project with the intention of re-inventing and saving what was then a high end shopping street.
