OK fella's, need a little help. I'm in process of registering for Medicare(how'd that happen?). I was born at Grace Hospital-Meyers Rd@McNichols Rd.
Does anyone have the address of the hospital. I've been told that it no longer operates as a hospital since the merging of Sinai & Grace on Outer Dr. Appreciate any help. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

The hospital is gone--it was demolished and replaced with a Home Depot (very handy, though not as useful as the big K-mart that was there previously).

The address now is 18700 Meyers. I don't know if that is the address the hospital used.

I was born there, too. If the address is meant for contacting the hospital, the address where it used to be isn't going to help much.

Why do you need the hospital's address to register for medicare? I am an eligibility specialist for DHS. Do you mean medicaid or medicare? Are you trying to get a Birth Certificate?

I think that you might be thinking of Seven Mile and Meyers. The old Grace Hospital is now the site of a new high school.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Wow, they tore down "New Grace Hospital!? I guess it wasnt so new anymore. To Gumby, thanks for the website info. Yes, I'm in the process of registering for Medicare. I'll hit the big 65 March 21, 08. I already had the application for a birth cert mailed to me. Interesting aside: speaking of tear downs, I recently saw a pic of my old neighborhood movie theater-the Carlton-Fenkell btwn Ward & Cheyenne Av-also a vacant lot.
Again, thanks for your help. Happy Thanksgiving

Ditman just so you know DHS has a program that will help pay for the $93.50 medicare premium. It is based on income and assets so if you were responsible with your money and planned for retirement you are SOL.

Little early, but happy #65 in March, Ditman. I hit that number 6 years back, and applying for SS and Medicare via the computer was a snap. Be sure you take Medicare parts A and B. As Gumby notes, that'll cost you 93 and change a month, but worth every penny.

If you don't have a private plan for meds, look into Medicare part D also for help on the scripts. If you do have a private plan, it's nearly certain to be better than those offered in Part D so then you will decline that part.

If my past six years are any indication, you're just getting into the best part of life. Body might ache a little more, but it ain't all as bad as youngsters think it is.

To Ray: thanks for the kind words & early bday wishes. Appreciate the tips for Medicare & SS. I must admit I'm a little more aware of this bday. I want to make sure all i's & t's are dotted & crossed. I'm still working fulltime at AT&T Yellow Pages. 10 years July 27, 08. I'll be eligible for lump sum buyout at that time. AT&T does have good retiree benefits(health&prescriptions) . My plan is to stick around till Sept 09 when I'm 661/2 & 100% SS eligible. We're very much looking forward to retiremnt & travel. Her sis-Jupiter, Fl. My sis-Sedona, Az. Still have some cousins in Detroit area(Huntington Woods). Thanks again, happy holiday. Go Lions!

Good move. I keep forgetting that the full retirement age with ss keeps moving back until it hits 67 in a few years. I was lucky, the last year that 65 was good for 100% was for those born in 1936, so I got in under the wire!

Although we moved to Vegas, we go back to MI every year to visit friends and family. Always a joy to return.
