Just picked up a book of mysteries at Borders with each story set in a different Detroit location...Corktown, Grandmont/Rosedale, Brush Park, Woodward, etc. The book is titled Detroit Noir. Four of the authors were there signing books, one of whom happened to be an old Detroit Open School fellow-parent, Roger Johnson, whom I haven't seen in about 8 years. He was as surprised to see me as I was to see him. Other stories were written by Loren Estleman, Joyce Carol Oates, Craig Holden, Desiree Cooper, among others. The concept, offering some of Detroit's best literary talents in one anthology, started a couple of years ago with Brooklyn Noir. Haven't read the book yet, but it looks promising. Just wanted to let the Forum know, since it captures so many facets of the city. | ||
