I am so mad! Why is it that metro Detroiters forget how to drive during the first snow? It took me 45 minutes to drive from OP to Midtown yesterday morning and I saw an Aveo in the window of CVS at Woodward and Bethune! How did they miss the turn? |

I'm mad that this region has so little civic pride that it seems like a race trying to be the first person to talk about how bad the area is to anyone who is visiting from outside the region. That REALLY pisses me off. Now who wants to challenge me to feats of strength? (Message edited by el_jimbo on December 06, 2007) |

I'm mad that people have the nerve to live and drive around Detroit in a Honda. If they get a flat tire, they are on their own! |

The Aveo in the CVS window was hilarious sitting on top of those newspaper boxes like that. I have no idea how that maneuver was even possible for a little car like that. |

"I am so mad!•• Why is it that metro Detroiters forget how to drive during the first snow?" When you have young drivers that haven't experienced heavy 12' snows or severe ice storms on a regular basis (as such in the past), then y really can't expect much from them. |

"young drivers are only in metro detroit?" Why are you trying to put words in my mouth when you don't even know what you're talking about. "her point was metro detroit is worse than other places." No, that's just your poor assumption. |

No one knows how to drive during the first snow here in the Lansing area its the same way and I am sure it is everywhere else it snows too. What am I mad about is the fact that no one has a picture of the Aveo in the CVS window because that would have made my day assuming no one got hurt. |

Read a review of the DIA upgrade and installation in Time Magazine today (or was it Newsweek?). Great review overall, but of course, the writer just had to begin the article with the "Urban decay, abandoned streets" cliches. What, is there some sort of Writer's Code of Conduct that says articles about Detroit are required to start with a gratuitous comment about the city's economic situation? |

Im sick of the attitude of not caring! I am also sick of everything being broke or not working properly in the city. From broken parking meters, broken lights, no hot water, more often than it should stuff is broken or wrecked around town! Went to DPL today and had five instances where something was not working right. Every now and then is acceptable but it seems far to common in Detroit |

Another thing. Today at the Burton Collection I was doing some historical research out of personal interest into the city and was amazed at old news papers and circulars of the city. From the directories to the photos and other interesting tidbits I dug up the amount of care and civic pride as Detroit was growing from 1910-1940 was amazing. The detail of road planning, homes, stores and more was so positive. It seems like when Detroit was built out the region continued building out and never slowing down to maintain and appreciate what a magnificent city that was created. (compared to the crappy boom towns of the sunbelt) Now fifty years later Detroit is left in ruins of what it was and it did not have to be this way. A true world class city was built and then left in the dust for greener pastures in the suburbs! That pisses me off so much! |

I'm sick up and fed about the trees in Detroit that are not being cared for. There are so many trees that need a good trimming....not tinsel...branches falling.... who's to take care of this problem? ? ? Property owners need to step up and take care of their property! |

I hate having my car broken into and having nothing but misc homemade mix CD's and maybe 60 cents stolen. I really hate it when I look up and down the row of cars and see that every one of them...maybe 10 in each direction, suffered the same fate. (I mean how long could that have taken and how much noise did it have to make!?! I really, really hate it when this happens in the CBD that is, allegedly, a crime free oasis. I hate myself most of all though, because it is my fault for having a car, having a tiny amount of change in it, parking it on the street, and expecting it to be intact upon my return. |
