YAY!

That is great news for Public Transit and Livonia, Canton and Novi are not joining in the ride.

It's not definitive proof, but next time you go to the auto show, look upstairs to the people mover station (which is visible from the Cobo lobby) and tell me how long the line is for people waiting for the next train, especially if it's really cold or snowing. Then tell me no one cares about mass transit, and that, if given the choice, these people would theoretically take the train all the way to their waiting car in some lit parking lot in the suburbs, rather than having to drive thru crappy weather, find a parking space downtown, overpay for it, figure out where the station is....etc etc .

The 18-month price chart at http://www.detroitgasprices.co m/ shows a conspicuous increase in Detroit gas prices between January and May. So even if French777's post is only about an event from last March, it's still interesting.

Is it more reason we need mass transit?

Or, more reason we need to raise taxes?

It was the DARTA and it's supporters including the Transportation Riders United that caused the Livonia opt. out. No opposition was necessary because of much hype and many broken promises.

We should not merge SMART and DDOT without time tables; competent management and a viable means of support of both government and industry sources.
