Have any of u people watch the interview of Kwame on Local 4 News(in case you missed it,here's the link below): http://www.clickondetroit.com/ video/index.html Go to "Detroit Mayor Talks To Local 4 About Quicken Deal" Around 4mins.34sec He was saying that he's gonna make an announcement a few weeks from now about another site in downtown is in the works. Does anyone might has a lucky guest what's it gonna be? |

eprize? the chintiki? uniroyal site? one of the other waterfront developements? I feel that if it was a HUGE thing like the stadium, though, it would have been leaked prior... (Message edited by andylinn on November 16, 2007) |

I hope it is the stadium, it seems like the ducks are in line. Also, this was sorta leaked, because we all know about the land dealings ect... and how Mike has kicked around the idea of a new arena for a while. It has been just a waiting game anyway. |

A friend of mine, who was just hired by the DEGC, keeps telling me that something big is coming. I usually chalk it up as boastfulness. This would lend some credence to it. |

I think the most likely thing is probably a new arena. Nobody has mentioned it though but there was that very strange rendering for the Monroe Block that circulated a couple weeks back, perhaps something to do with that. |

I guess Hockey Arena...it almost a foregone conclusion that a new arena will in fact be built behind the Fox, and Kwame, Ilitch, Gilbert and Co. will probably want to keep the momentum going in the press by building off the momentum of the Quicken announcements....makes sense to space them apart so as not to allow one to overshadow the other and make it appear that it's one project that's happening instead of several |

Wouldnt it be a better sign for the city if they appeared to be two different projects and multiple people investing in the city? I do agree about the overshadowing though. |

^yeah, that's what I was saying...better to space them apart so one doesn't overshadow the other and so it appears to be two projects instead of one. It builds momentum and does more to get people to notice the city when there are multiple "unrelated" major investments occuring |

^already been announced, as has the Watermark and some of the other projects mentioned in this thread... and I highly doubt their big announcement will be that they are commencing construction of an already announced project... Hockey arena will take some time from announcement to completion...probably looking at 3 years min... |

I hope it's a mall, anchored by Macy's or Target (I really don't care...I think IKEA missed out on an opportunity here) on the Monroe Block site. That happens...watch out. That's a true "game changer" for Detroit. |

My tip says it's the new arena in a couple weeks time, and it will not be behind the Fox. The same source predicted the Quicken announcement to the day. |
