Folks,

The Executive Board of the Historic Fort Wayne Coalition has approved the workday schedule until May 2008. The specific dates were chosen in effort to keep the workdays from interfering with holidays, sports events, etc. In addition to that, it will hopefully enable more people to come out if they choose and not have it interfere too much with their personal plans.

So, without further adieu, the schedule is as follows:

January 5, 2008 – HFWC work day/membership meeting
February 2, 2008 – HFWC work day
March 8, 2008 – HFWC work day/membership meeting
April 5, 2008 – HFWC work day
May 10, 2008 – HFWC work day/membership meeting

The workdays are from 9:00am - 5:00pm (or for as long as you can contribute). The membership meetings are held at 1:00p (or around lunch time). They are an every-other month business meeting for Historic Fort Wayne Coalition members. All workday participants are welcome to attend if they would like.

Memberships to the Coalition are always accepted. The cost is $20/$35 for individual/family respectively for the full year. The monies generated from member "dues" are used for Fort restoration projects and to defray the cost of our insurance policy to work on site.

I hope that in 2008 we will break even beyond the 4000 volunteer man hours contributed at the Fort! Please consider Fort Wayne as a location to volunteer at. We surely can use skilled and unskilled participants to keep progress moving forward.

Feel free to contact myself or PlymouthRes directly if you are interested in participating in one of the workdays!

Thanks for all your help in 2007 DYes!

We look forward to any and all who want to show up and spend some time at Fort Wayne! This website has been instrumental in 2007 in helping us get the word out for the goings on down there, and recently, Lowell has added a HOF mega thread with all things Fort Wayne that have been mentioned or written about on this site. We could not possibly thank him enough for allowing us to shamelessly plug our organization here, and many (over a dozen) new members and volunteers have been the direct result of this website alone.

I have met some of the finest people who are willing to donate their time to Detroit at Fort Wayne and I look forward to meeting even more as we begin to accelerate towards our goals for 2008. We are in the process of defining more relevant, long term projects this year, committees have been formed at the City government level and money ids beginning to flow and be earmarked for the various projects that will ensure that Fort Wayne will be around for a long time to come.

Also, as reported by Subvet recently, the Historic Fort Wayne Coalition has been granted a coveted 501c3 status as of December 24th, a gift this Christmas that many have worked so hard to get! We are grateful to Will Eichler, whose main thrust for the majority of 2007 was putting together the 83 page p[ackage required for the status to be granted. His effort secured the "Non-profit" status for us and we will always be grateful for his fortitude in obtaining it for us.

Also, you may wish to check-out the article that appeared in the December 3, 2007 Model D e-news paper written by Kelli B. Kavanaugh. She did an outstanding job of capturing the essence of what the Coalition is all about.

Please come out to the January 5th workday as we have much to do and could use all the help we can get. Also, if you plan on attending, please e-mail either Subvet or I at the above e-mail addys so that we can adequately plan our resources for that day!

See you at the Fort!
