hey kids - does anyone have any good pictures from the inside or outside of the motor city casino?

also, any thoughts on the design elements of the place? parking? and choice of site?

finally, does anyone have any of the renderings from the structure proposal? thanks! - andy

MCC urgently needs to fix up the interior of their original parking structure. It is dark, dirty, amd poorly signed. It is a terrible welcome for their guests.

Any word on when the exterior will be done 100%? Looks like they are still a lil ways off.

quote:

Owner Marian Ilitch spoke optimistically about adding a People Mover stop for the building, which would link it to the downtown -- and also to other Ilitch entertainment enterprises such as the Fox Theatre and the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

"I think the odds are good," Ilitch said of a People Mover expansion, suggesting it could link to Eastern Market as well. "If it was expanded, it would bring us all closer together." Her remarks are noteworthy because People Mover alteration has largely been dismissed over the years as an expensive pipe dream.

I'm sticking with "pipe dream". Sorry Marian.

The light show last night was amazing. I wonder how long it will be before a major accident on I-75 or the Lodge is attributed to the MCC light show and driver distraction? I was driving north on I-75, off at Grand River. It was hard to keep my eyes off the MCC. Good thing no one slammed on their brakes in front of me.

I also love the ornament outside the MGM.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal carried a nice AP article about Motor City Casino and Marian Illitch in the business section today. All very positive for Detroit. Unfortunately, they didn't link it on thier electronic edition or I'd of posted it here.

I don't know, but I'm sure there will be plenty of them...

Pics 4 and 5 from that Freep link reminds me of the wood paneling in Grandpa's basement circa 1972!
