Ticketmaster shows tickets are priced at $150 - $200. Kind of pricey. |

That's a lot of money to see a band 30 years past their prime. |

Those prices are higher than the big act tickets in Atlantic City and Vegas! Casino shows usually cost less than at other venues, with the table minimums raised on show nights - the bigger the act, the higher the minimums. |

I have read that Maurice White is recovering from his health problems, but I wouldn't figure on seeing him with the group. Here's hoping that some (rich) DY citizen catches the show and files a report with us. I'm a jazz lover, but I have great respect for EW&F. |

To some folks, Michael McDonald ruined the Doobie Brothers. We saw them at Pine Knob a couple of years ago (with Chicago). Great show--but we didn't pay $150! Phillip Bailey doesn't hit the high notes like he used to (plus he's singing Maurice's old parts), but Verdine still plays a mean bass. |

I won't pay that much but I saw EW&F with Chicago a couple years ago at Pine Knob... went with other people, I would never have bought the tickets, but it was really one of the best shows. I happily admitted I was wrong about thinking these were has-been bands. Fun. |

They played on the same bill as Chaka Kahn, and the Temptations Revue at the Music Hall during the Super Bowl weekend, 2006. I didn't think I would recognize so many tunes they had. They also played very well. I was only a pre-teen back in the early 70's but remembered their catchy tunes. $150-200 seems a bit much to me. |

Saw EWF at Pine Knob many times in the 70's, always enjoyed the shows. Was always impressed when the drummer played while he and his drum set were spun around. Seem to remember Verdine White playing while being raised in the air and then disappering, then reappearing somewhere on the stage. Something like that. Maurice White no longer tours with the group due to having MS from what I heard, but does?? still sing on the records. He also is the music producer on the CW show Life is Wild, comes on Sunday nights about a blended family that moves to South Africa to run an inn. Caught his name on the credits. If any of you remember from their shows he always played the Kalimba music instrument. On one of the recent episodes, during a celebration scene, the group played and sang one of EWF's songs. Sorry can't remember what the song was. |

I'm disappointed that none of the Detroit casinos put in a true concert venue. You only need about 2,500 seats to attract the average casino acts that play throughout the country. Prices for these acts are usually $40-50. It allows you to eat, gamble and see a show for a reasonable price and make a full evening of it.These 2nd tier acts are usually worth seeing and are a lost leader for the casino. Actually, I would put Earth, Wind and Fire in this category. |

MGM's Grand Ballroom is nice. It's not the Fisher Theatre, but it's new and state-of-the art. MGM Detroit is going to be run more like Vegas in many ways from now on. It's $200 for MGM's NYE show too with Cherry Poppin' Daddies. I don't think anyone could care less about CPD, but $200 for live entertainment, a lobster dinner, and an open bar isn't bad. MGM's Grand Ballroom will have concerts on a somewhat monthly basis. MotorCity is also building a theatre for concerts. It may be operated by Olympia Entertainment (Fox, Joe Louis), but I don't think that's confirmed. Geez, don't you guys read the paper? This was all reported several times in the last few months. |
