DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. has tapped Grammy winning R&B star Mary J. Blige to headline a Hollywood-style fashion and car show in Detroit to kick off the auto show next month. The automaker announced today that it's bringing back the GM Style event, held for the first time last year. The invitation-only party pairs up celebrities and GM vehicles. Like last year, the event will be held in a heated pavillion set up on the banks of the Detroit River. All concept and production vehicles at GM Style will be rolled out in a fashion runway show to live music. More cars and talent will be announced in the coming weeks. Blige has sold 40 million records since her debut in 1991. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pb cs.dll/article?AID=/20071210/U PDATE/712100426 Wish I was getting an invitation, this sounds like a pretty cool event. |

There is no coincidence that MJBs latest CD "Growing Pains" is due out in stores on December 18th. |

I like GM's thinking with picking Mary as a celebrity personality to sell their vehicles. She's definitely got a classy appeal to her. |
