This from the email bag...quote:We are going to the Hockey game at the Joe New Years Eve and plan on coming down to Motor City to gamble in the afternoon. Do you have a jitney that goes to the Joe? Any ideas forum? Here was my suggestion: quote:I don't have the answer to that. I would think that since the same family [Ilitch] owns the Motorcity Casino and the Red Wings they might have a shuttle. You should inquire with casino. Right now the best solution for parking once, visiting a casino and going to the hockey game would be to park free for the Greektown casino, gamble, then take the people mover to Joe Louis arena and back. It will take you door to door. I will ask this question on the DetroitYES forum, so check there to see if someone has a better solution. Check the discussion topic: Help a visitor to downtown question. |

I think your answer is the best. Easy parking at Greektown, you've got all kinds of dinner options, don't have to deal with the line of traffic trying to get into Joe Louis, and it won't cost very much at all. |

Agreed, peoplemover is always a great option to the Joe, and there are at least 4-5 shuttles to the game from other restaraunts/bars in Greektown. Once the game is done, being in Greektown for New Years Eve is a fun place to be... |

I've learned one thing about the PM on busy nights. (I assume New Years and hockey will be busy) Never get on at Greektown. It is very crowded and you might have to wait for several trains before you make it on. I always walk the couple blocks to the Bricktown station and get on with a handful of people on a nearly empty PM. Then we get to Greektown and the people rush in while I am sitting comfortably! This doesn't usually work for the Auto Show weekend, as the PM is full of people going to Greektown and you won't be able to get on at Bricktown. |
