Good one 1953. Kid, a lot of people in Michigan have lost their jobs. Many have also lost their homes due to companies like Rock. We had to listen to him on the radio and tv constantly with his propaganda. Im glad to see him go. Also dont feel sorry for this guy, he will do fine. |

I always thought he looked like Opie Taylor from the Andy Griffith Show, all growed up and trying to sell people mortgages they couldn't afford. |

Kenp, you don't really know what you are talking about at all, do you? Many in Michigan have lost their homes due to companies like Rock?? Please explain. I am going to assume that brilliant observation was in in regards to high-interest subprime loans. Rock/QL never really got involved in that. and...."propaganda"??? It's called advertising. |

Dave Hall's new jingle will be out soon: "It's time to loooook for a job....YEAH! Call 1 -866 MARVIN, the unemployment specialists." I know he charted near the top of our irritating commercial's thread last year, running a close second to those horrible diamond store commercials. I noticed they are not so annoying this season, maybe the ad agencies are reading our messages. |

David Hall came to my sister's wedding as he is a friend of my brother in law's. He seemed like a nice guy, but I don't know him myself. I can say that surely he isn't hurting, and most likely left Rock to retire on the mega money he made with them. |

I think that the way people perceive the mortgage industry and their own mortgage has changed, even if they haven't lost their job or foreclosed. David Hall was the voice of that previous era when anyone could get approved for a mortgage, home prices were increasing, and it was OK to use your home equity as a cash machine. Rock may not have been involved in subprime but the current crises has a lot to do with adjustable rate mortgages, where Rock is a huge player. This is all speculation but I think it was a little disingenuous to have the same guy who constantly pushed the SmartARM, or WhateverARM, to many people who now are having trouble with the higher payments and then now telling them they should go back to a 30 year fixed. |

" ...high-interest subprime loans. Rock/QL never really got involved in that. " are you kidding? i am not in the mortgage industry, but i understand that the "interest only" or "5-year arm" loans are considered subprime. i've also been told the "second mortgages" to get 20% down and avoid "PMI". it would be interesting to know, as a percentage by company who originally made the loan, how many mortgages have gone into foreclosure. anyone know where to find that information? |

Rock/QL were definitely involved in the high-interest subprime loans scam. Yet we're all circle jerking to welcome them to move their biz to Downtown Detroit? Yay. We all should be driving them out of the city. |

Rock Financial certainly does offer the types of loans that has caused all the problems in the housing industry: https://www.rockfinancial.com/ refinance/refinance-loans/quic kandeasy.html?lid=1411 A "Quick and Easy Loan"? Yes- quick and easy for taxpayers to bailout when foreclosures happen........................ .. |

I had Rock over to discuss a re financing awhile back. They came up with a scenario that called for 2 loans, one a standard mortgage and one a high interest, interest only loan. They kept pushing and pushing and calling and calling after I told them I was not interested. They said it was to save me from mortgage insurance. What they try to do, to me, was BS. I wonder how many people fell for this. They wanted to take all my debt into this other loan as well. Also in the above thread I said, "companies like Rock". Any one that came onto their commercials and encouraged people to get into an interest only loan, or sign up for a smart ARM Re-Fi to obtain money for X mas presents or vacations is most certainly part of the problem, not the solution. |

If they read all this stuff they may think again. People should always get a 30 or 15 year fixed loan, (unless they are 100% sure they are moving or (raise coming) and CAN sell their house quickly). You can alway refinance later at a lower rate. |

That is easily one of the stupidest things I have ever read. Business is business, and since Quicken seems to have major plans for parts of the downtown area, why not welcome them? If you are ticked about them moving in, why not move out yourself? |
