I have looked at the Downtown skyline of Windsor, Ont. and its first tallest glass covered skyscraper. What is the name of this skyscraper? Would it be the symbol of Downtown' Windsor's progress? It seems to me that Canada is enjoying their socialist economic boom. That nation after all has close economic ties to China. Can Windsor be the next " New Detroit" if the 21st century of will it rot like "Old Detroit across the river? |

Actually, Windsor will be the "New Detroit" and "Old Detroit" will be the place you park to visit "New Detroit". The "Freedom Gondola" will be renamed the "Parking Shuttle Gondola". |

Danny, I assure you that Southwestern Ontario/Essex County/Windsor are in the same auto-related economic dumper as SE Michigan. Similar real estate issues (minus the mortgage crisis), downsizing at Ford and Chrysler operations locally, closures/downsizing amongst suppliers and in the mould making/die/tooling industry. "Socialist" boom? With the exception of socialized medicine I'm not sure what you're eluding to. But...to answer the question posed--the new "tallest" is the new hotel tower for the Caesars casino (the new name for Casino Windsor)--it is sitting atop a new convention facility/theater which is hopefully going to be a catalyst for downtown growth/development. |

Unfortunately, Windsor's unemployment rate is currently the highest in Canada - 9.1% last time I checked. It also has the highest office vacancy rate in Canada. So yeah, no economic boom in sight. Whoever said Windsor will be the "New Detroit" is probably right. |

We currently have a 10% vacancy rate and the next highest in Canada is 5%. But King Eddie thinks he is doing a good job. |
