Does anyone know of a store that sells aquarium supplies and fish downtown (or the nearby)? I know there was a little store on Cass but last time I went by they looked out of business.

There's a nice place on Warren, but that's way in(or nearby) East English Village. I seem to remember a lot of fish tanks there. There's also a Pet Supplies Plus on Livernois, but I think that's past McNichols.
Not really at all near downtown, but still in the city.

Deteamster is speaking of M&M Pet shop. However, I'm sure that's probably beyond your prefered range.

Now, the only one CLOSEST to downtown would be in downtown Windsor.

Otherwise, your next alternatives are M&M's, 2 in Grosse Pointe, A Pets Supplies Plus (In Palmer Woods) and the Dearborn PetsMarts.

The one to which you refer on Cass WAS Birdtown, but now it is an antiques store. a cool one at that, BTW.

Mine has neon tetras and a red siamese fighting fish. The oak carved-painted muskie toilet seat is the topper! But their website is down...

Jvrass, that is great! If I owned my home I'd get that for sure...

Thanks for all the suggestions, the only one I was aware of was the PetsMart on Ford Rd in Dearborn.

Also, Andylinn, I remember the antique store being next to Birdtown, I know I went to both in the same day two summers ago. Did they expand?

If you lack transportation, you could always take the Woodward bus and transfer to Crosstown to get to M&M, if you're really desperate.

I've got wheels, I just don't like sending money outside the city if I don't have to. Otherwise, I'd move to the 'burbs and save on taxes.

Enduro, they are two different stores the one on the corner in the former pet store is Mantra Chinatown, and specializes in modern antiques from the 50's-80's and the other is Showcase Collectables which is just a fun store, I bought a really great mannequin from there, they also have a collection of records and vintage porn. Happy shopping everyone.
