Is she in working order? I'm guessing you aren't selling, but if you were what's your asking price? She's a beaut.

I haven't hooked it up to see so I am not sure if it works. It belongs to the house owner but I can check but I don't think she is selling it. Out of curiosity how much are you seeing similar ones for?

Where was the E&B brewery? I recall they had a blitz on in the late 50's early 60's. 33 1/3 more beer, FREE, 16 ounce bottles.

E&B was in Eastern Mkt. The building is still there. It's behind Hirts.

Yes, you can live there. And if you do, I can sell you this authentic barrel, for a fair price. :-)

Cool, they used every typeface they had at the time to make that.

.........and they did it before there were PCs. I remember in the early 90s one of the salesmen at the company I worked at made a flyer with the newest, latest graphics program.
This SOB had a log-cabin font header, followed by flowing French script, followed by some sans-serif something or other. It was a nightmare.

56packman... Cracker Barrel won't want that oven... it's not made in China, like 90% of their non-food items!

Detroit Jewels last forever. You find them often in older homes where they were moved to basements and used as canning stoves.
I've owned a couple...
A bit of wire brush and steel wool work and you are ready to go...Just don't try to move it up the stairs by yourself.

For years, my mom kept in her basement one of the wooden lathe wheels from an early Ford plant.

I'm still looking for an old Detroit Stove ad. However, I did find another E & B Brewery ad - this one appeared in the Dec. 4, 1897 edition of "Der Arme Teufel" ("The Devil's Arm", a local publication for the German community in Detroit). How do you like this typeface?

E. & B. was still being sold in the early 1960's, in a 16 ounce bottle. I would bring a case of it to the handballl courts on Belle Isle. One of the players was a salesman for Budweiser and he mocked the 'inferiority' of the E. & B. brand. The rest of the players had no problem swigging it down after a hot, sweaty match.

A four oven, six burner model is on ebay with a starting bid of 6,000.

On another site there were prices of $750 or so. I just googled Detroit Jewel oven and voila. Or is it wallah?
