I'm interested in learning about local environmental organizations, as well as individuals involved in environmental issues.

I know of:
- Sierra Club
- Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision
- Friends of the Rouge
- Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice

Any help/suggestions you could provide is appreciated.

Thanks.

The burbs are legit; I wouldn't go beyond the tri-counties, unless they're doing something amazing. Statewide Orgs are cool, too.

Crystal and Fishtoes -- the MEC site is perfect, thanks for the tip.

Everyone else -- your suggestions are helping, too.

Thank you.

The National Wildlife Federation has their Great Lakes Natural Resource Center in Ann Arbor. They do a lot of community outreach and education, and can always use a volunteer. The staff there is great.

Michigan Nature Association

Michigan Nature Association is a great non profit dedicated to preserving Michigan's wild areas for eternity. They actively work to preserve threatened and/or rare ecosystems in this state. They already have an impressive number of nature preserves here and are always working to obtain more land.

I have lots of girlfriends. So, go take a long walk off a short pier and don't come back.
