This Dutch-influenced building has been puzzling me for years. It stood where Henry the Hatter stands today. I am thinking that the architect was might have been Joseph Kastler, since his entrance to the Dom Polski Hall is very similar. Other images on the WSU site display one of the buildings as the Old Heidelberg Building. So what is the story on this building? It is the Dutch structure on the left in the image….

This building looks sort of like an error, but I'm no architect buff. |

It could also be "Weser Renaissance" German... The lower east side was once a German enclave, so it is more likely that it is of a Weser Renaissance style: http://www.germany-tourism.de/ ENG/destination_germany/master _tlfstrasse-id55.htm Of course, that said... 99.9% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Dutch, Flemish or Weser Renaissance styles! P.S. The Weser is one of the major rivers of northern Germany. |
