Not sure if this belongs in the sports forum or here to discuss? But the City of Detroit......

We will host the NCAA tournament on Friday Mar-28 and Sunday Mar-30

Detroit Redwings have games at Joe Louis Arena on Friday Mar-28 and Sunday Mar-30

Detroit Tigers have Opening Day on Monday Mar-31

You would have to think that all Hotels, Bars and Cabs/People Mover are going to be extremely busy with crowds.

Are there any additional events that weekend?

Does anyone plan on attending these events?

The thought of the Tigers returning melts the icky black soot covered remnants of snow on my soul.

This year is Detroit's chance to see four of the teams from the sweet sixteen battle it out. We are the final site for the Midwest Region. Games are at Ford Field Friday and Sunday, March 28 and 30. The Professor is a volunteer for the organizing committee. Some tickets are still available, as low as $45 for all three games. That's not $45 per game, that's $45 for the whole weekend.

If you see an out of towner shake their hand and say "welcome to Detroit". Let's show the rest of the country what we're really like!

Does anyone know if Detroit will have a street festival along with the basketball tournament? Traveling with MSU in past years, we have seen some really cool events outside of the arenas.

It should be a great weekend! Opening day is great by itself, but with all the other events it will be a greater atmosphere.

Dont worry Drankin, they will be there next year! Every single 4-year player at MSU under Tom Izzo has been to a Final Four...I expect that to continue next year.

In a 15 month period Detroit has hosted the All-Star game, the Super Bowl & the World Series. Final Four next year. I don't think any other city can match this.

BUMP! The games are upon us!

Ford Field is ready to go and things kick off tomorrow with the practice sessions. Each of the four team practices thursday are open to the public. I plan to attend, but I dont know what time they are at. does anyone know?

Also, will there be any festivals or entertainment areas in the Wintergarden or the like?

EDIT: The open practices are from noon until 4pm.
