I want to know what peoples favorite michigan brewed beers are. Preferably ones that are bottled. Also what are favorite breweries that people frequent? |

Gaylord's Big Buck Brewery's Buck Naked (light beer). They have t-shirts advertising the brew ... a pic of Adam & Eve naked in the Garden of Eden. Haha. |

Motor City Brewing Works. They're Nut Brown Ale and Ghettoblaster are really good. Mix them together for one of my favorites, a Nutblaster. http://www.motorcitybeer.com/ (Message edited by Downriviera on March 29, 2008) |

Dragonmead's Dead Monk Abbey Ale is my reigning favorite beer anywhere. I've had people deliver a growler of it to me in Portland, OR when I lived there! |

I'm a huge fan of Bell's Two Hearted Ale and their limited edition Hops Slam. You can find the Two Hearted Ale year round at your favorite beer store although the Hops Slam is done of the year and Oberon isn't out yet. Another Michigan microbrewery I often support is Dark Horse Brewing out of Marshall. I don't think their IPA, Crooked Tree, is quite has good as Bell's but it's pretty good and I like variety. Anyone care to recommend some good local wheat beers? I always end up drinking imports (Unibroue, Weihenstephaner) and I'd like to keep those dollars in MI. |

Ever have a Bell's Eclectic Ale? They brew it once a year during a big party at the brewery. Hoo-damn, that stuff is like motor oil, but some people wait all year for it. |

I second the Hopslam vote. It’s a big, hoppy beer in the spirit of American IPAs, but has a malty sweetness typical of an English IPA. Very complex & tasty with lots of spicy flavors. Bell’s Oberon was recently introduced for the year, & you can get it on tap at Foran’s Irish Pub Downtown. They should have bottles out by now, too. It’s a decent American wheat beer, but it’s more like the lawn-mower beer of Michigan microbrews: a light, tasty beer you pound back quickly without getting totally bombed too soon. It’s a good, light beer, but is usually my last choice if other microbrews are available (I’m a hop-head & love stouts – Oberon is too light for me in the hops & malts departments on most occasions). Go to Foran’s & peruse their beer menu at the end of the bar. They have 13 Michigan beers on tap, along with several in bottles. Try the New Holland Brewing Company beers – there’s nothing wimpy about any of them. Their Poet Stout is one of my favorites. I also love Arcadia beers. To get the best understanding of how vast & incredible Michigan beers are, go to one of the Michigan Brewers Guild beer festivals. The winter festival was held back in February, but the summer festival is coming up in July in Ypsilanti. I’m sure there will be tons of wheat beers there for you to try, given the time of year. http://www.michiganbrewersguil d.org/ |

I really like Arbor Brewing's Olde Number 22, a German style alt beer. If you like espresso, you have to try their Espresso Love Breakfast Stout. Although I'm partial to ales, I like Atwater's Dunkel, a nice dark lager. Note to Gertrude; the Bell's Oberon has been released. www.arborbrewing.com www.atwaterbeer.com |

Bell's Hopslam and Double Cream Stout are great. A scoop of vanilla ice cream in the Double Cream Stout makes a delicious float! |

Oberon, without a doubt. I get pretty upset each fall when it disappears from bar taps and store shelves. You can imagine my surprise to see it on tap in late December/early January at a bar in Boca Raton, FL. Apparently it's not as popular down there. Their loss was my gain. |

An ice cold Bell's Oberon with a lemon slice(an orange makes it too sweet for me). Dragonmead's Final Absolution, tastes good and at 10% alcohol well worth your money. |

Kuhnhenn Brewery's Loonie Kuhnie brew is excellent. If you have not been there, I highly suggest you go there. It's on Chicago Road and Mound in Warren. What is Copper Canyon like??? Can you eat there? |

Patrick, I found Copper Canyon to be okay at best. It's not bad but the food was pricey, the beer kinda mediocre for a brewpub, and the servers flaky. We only went there when a member of my social clan needed a place to go that didn't check ids too closely, IYKWIM. Just go to a place in Detroit or Royal Oak if you want a good time with some good beer. |

I like bell's for the Bottled stuff. Kuhnhenn's for the best micro brew. Hard to spell, but easy to drink. |
