besides Belle Isle?? I am on my reunion planning committee and I am trying to locate other family friendly parks (I.E. not too close to the water, traffic, etc.) for our picnic. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

North Rosedale Park has a nice park. It's located on the corner of Glastonbury and Scarsdale. Google North Rosedale Park for the website and address.

How many people? What part of town would be most convenient?

Ummm...possibly about 100 and it doesn't matter as long as it's in Detroit (west side preferably). M...thanks so much!

Preferably the west side...possiby about 100-125 ppl, but we will need to have the ability to use a grill...Vizion thanks, I checked into, but I am unable to locate a picture which is important because I will need to email the link to the committee to determine whether or not we are willing to forego Belle Isle and it's ridiculous rates...

The parks I would suggest are Rouge and Palmer, only because I have had nice picnics at each, they have plenty of space and there should be adequate parking. I'm pretty sure people grill in both places.

No idea about costs.

Mwilbert...thanks, I will suggest those locations as well. Vizion, I was actually trying to locate a picture, I am aware of the location as I grew up there...I was just trying to provide a visual to other committee members, but thanks a bunch! ;-)

Does anyone know the name of the park in the Jefferson/Dickerson area (I know I said west side preferably) that is off the water...many people go there to watch the fireworks...

^ You can do a street view to see how it looks from another angle. They have updated the park over the past few years.

How about Clark Park? It is at Clark and Vernor Streets in southwest Detroit. Another large southwest side park is Patton Park.

A large park on the northwest side is Eliza Howell, but I don't think it is well-kept. Rouge Park is a popular location for family reunions.

I believe waterworks park is closed to the public. the two parks in the berry subdivision are lovely, but have water access which you mentioned was not a plus.
