^^^It's possible that the geniuses doing the renovation removed a floor diaphragm that braced the wall, increasing the distance the wall was forced to span. Can anyone else obtain any photos? | ||

It looks as if some of the center wall on the second floor had been removed. I'd put money on that being part of what led to the collapse. | ||

Thank you, Realitycheck... I don't have a fancy still camera but I've learned that having any sort of camera with you all the time is better than a big one you don't always take. Being there, it was pretty obvious (my camera is a fixed lens, so no zoom) that the floors are buckling. The two things that I found hilarious in a sad way was that the parking lot attendant behind the building was trying to wave people into the lot like nothing happened... then, and if you at the picture on the front, that dude is leaning against the recently-collapsed building. I am so glad this didn't happen this weekend, if it had to happen. Johnny5 - being there, I can tell you that center wall on the other floors are just wood slats and plaster and probably has the load-bearing capacity of a mouse.
