The odd fellows building has partially collapsed.. took pics, am formatting them for the forum and will post momentarily.

WDIV is there, and some cars were damaged by the back end of the building falling off.

I'm not surprised by this.

When you have buildings just sitting there crumbling and unattended for over 30 years, you will have these type of stuff happening

The wind was obviously a factor.

Wow, only a couple of months ago there was a big dumpster out front and a group of people were gutting the place.

I heard the place was to be turned into a Turkish restaurant.

If this wind can make a building collapse, it was just a matter of time before it collapsed anyway.

^^^It's possible that the geniuses doing the renovation removed a floor diaphragm that braced the wall, increasing the distance the wall was forced to span.

Can anyone else obtain any photos?

It looks like a structural wall is missing on the second floor, and/or those toothpick columns in there just didn't hold up.

It looks as if some of the center wall on the second floor had been removed. I'd put money on that being part of what led to the collapse.

Thank you, Realitycheck... I don't have a fancy still camera but I've learned that having any sort of camera with you all the time is better than a big one you don't always take.

Being there, it was pretty obvious (my camera is a fixed lens, so no zoom) that the floors are buckling.

The two things that I found hilarious in a sad way was that the parking lot attendant behind the building was trying to wave people into the lot like nothing happened... then, and if you at the picture on the front, that dude is leaning against the recently-collapsed building.

I am so glad this didn't happen this weekend, if it had to happen.

Johnny5 - being there, I can tell you that center wall on the other floors are just wood slats and plaster and probably has the load-bearing capacity of a mouse.

I thought that building looked familiar. My wife's cousin owns the bar two doors down. I park down there every few weeks

Wow, I was just down there yesterday. Kind of glad it happened today, and not yesterday. That area was full of people all day yesterday!

Yah, it had the Starbucks ad. A WWE ad for awhile, too.

Currently, there are no ads on the side of it.

Also very possible that a fire escape falling off the side of the building could have brought down the bricks as well...

it looks like the rest of the building is going to fold in too, someone better brace it or knock it down before it comes down on it's own

At first when i saw that last pic, i thought it looked like it was sagging just left of the center of the building. However, if you look at the curb and the lines in the road, you can see that there's gotta be another reason for it, cause the entire picture has that 'sag'.

which bar? my old boss (or his family or something) had a bar right there too. The name slips my mind, i've only been twice and i'm unfortunately rarely in Detroit. I remember it was next to the Well.
