I would not want to be in the room if/when Joann Watson finds out that The Coleman Alexander Young Airport has been sold. Seriously, I believe that City Council has to approve the sale of any of the City's assets. I can't imagine them going along with anything like that, especially given the present level of tension. | ||

Detroitnerd, Yes, it was formally and officially renamed Coleman Alexander Young Municipal (or International) Airport in 2003. It had special/significant meaning as Mayor Young was part of the Tuskegee Airmen (477th Medium-Bomber Group) during WWII. Flybydon, I believe it when I see it. As someone else said above doesn't the council have to sign off on any sell of property? And, if that even comes to fruition I wonder who he's selling it to and for what? Sounds good to me. Almost anything can be better than what's going on now... from their scant website, they've been around for 75 years or so, so that's a good thing (i.e. not fly-by-night). Of course someone will have a privatization disaster story - but instead of it being a money hole if it can start to be a generator and help the community around it (there is almost no spinoff business to the neighborhood) then why not give it a shot. | ||
