Going for a drive in a bit and I'm not too familiar with the west side, but I've always wanted to see the Kronk Gym. Where exactly is it located? I cannot find the address anywhere online... |

It's listed under Kronk Recreation Center, not Kronk Gym. 5555 Mcgraw St, Detroit, MI It's in the basement of the Kronk Recreation Center |

I thought the Kronk Gym in Detroit closed down because thieves stole some metal pipes. |

According to the site I found, it is closed as of 2006, but the building is still standing. |

At one point, they were training out of Gold's Gym in Dearborn. I think it was right after someone swiped copper, etc., from the Detroit location a couple years back. |

On another note, I saw hitman and Emanuel Steward at Forte in Southfield a couple weeks ago. Can Steward really not get the funding to reopen the gym or is there something else going on here? Also, I know Steward trained James Toney at one point www.DetroitArmy.com |

Stewarts got the money I'm sure but it's probably not a good investment from a business standpoint. That would be a huge undertaking for one person to not only fund the renovation but to also keep the place running. I don't know if the city owns the facility or not but THAT would be a good place for the city to spend a little money IMO. Give the kids in that area something worthwhile to do... |

boxing has taken a backseat to MMA (mixed martial arts) opening a new boxing gym may not be a wise investment at all. |
