Seriously, I usually check the Grosse Pointe News, or their phone directory for painters, plasterers, etc. You've got to have solid references to get work in the 'Pointes. You could also check with the East English Village webpage: Eastenglishvillage.org. Their Newsletter often advertises painters, plasterers, and "jacks-of-all trades".

Ray Smith Painting (313) 821-5240. Talk to Steve (Oreson, I think is his last name). They do great work! I've used them for my home and my father-in-law's. I think they work out of a Grosse Pointe office.

You might want to check angieslist.com. Your insurance company agent may also have a referral for you. Pay as little as possible up front - nothing would be best.
