For the change makers and the politically minded out there who have nothing to do NEXT Saturday:

The second annual Michigan Policy Summit takes place NEXT Saturday, May 10, in Lansing. The summit seeks to bring together individuals and community organizations in order to best ensure that Michigan public policy reflect our collective values of social justice, equality, and fairness. My hope is that residents of Detroit and the tri-county area have a presence and a voice at this summit.

The summit will focus on issues surrounding education, the environment, and health care with three main objectives:
1) to craft effective and progressive public policies
2) to provide tangible skills for individuals and organizations
3) to create new networks and cohesion amongst progressive activists

Popular political activist and author Jim Hightower and top journalist and radio commentator Amy Goodman will be the featured speakers.

DETAILS: The Michigan Policy Summit is being organized by Michigan's progressive community and will be held Saturday, May 10, at the Lansing Center from 9 am to 4:30 pm. Registration begins at 8 am. Registration is a fairly affordable $30.00 and I think they offer need-based scholarships if you contact the organizers. More information can be found at: http://mipolicysummit.org/
