Be sure to check out a cool event happening this weekend on the Detroit River, called the International Detroit Cup... (www.detroitcup.com) If you are interested at all in the sport of sailing, this is the event to check out. Some of the worlds best sailors are competing this weekend in our home town of DETROIT. Teams are arriving today from New Zealand, Argentina, Russia, Italy, Canada, and all over the United States. The event is open to the public and is free admission. Saturday looks like a good day to come down and watch-- 66 and partly cloudy. There will be grandstands set up on the shore, live commentary, beer, food, and entertainment all weekend long. The course will be set up right up next to the shore for viewing purposes. This style of racing is 1 on 1 - it is very fast paced, competitive, and can be thrilling to watch, unlike most other sailing competitions. Each match lasts about 15 minutes long with 3 matches going on at the same time. The event is at Bayview Yacht Club... at the foot of Connor road.
