Haha, no, actually... but I like it.

At one point there was a guy interrupting the deputy mayor so much that it was impossible for him to even talk.

Then a large part of the crowd was upset that the City Council meeting, on this topic, is going to be a closed door meeting.

sgcreative...What exactly is the deal; why all the anger?

Despite protestations, twenty-some years ago, they built the searing stink-pot.

What's all the nouveau fuss over?

A lot of citizens are angry over the uneven cost difference per ton of trash burned. City of Detroit pays much more per ton vs. the suburbs.

Chuck: Now's the time to decide whether to keep the stinking thing. Lease runs out soon.

Burn that sucker down...down, I say.
From that point forward, take the trash and mulch it for raw energy & top-soil

I would say it was very organized. Save for the handful of crowd outbursts that disrupted the flow.

Basically, there was a speaker there who broke down all the numbers and details about how the incinerator works and effects Metro Detroit.

Next was the deputy mayor. He was explaining that the city is bound by a contract and can't just say, "We are not using the incinerator anymore." So he brought up the fact that it might be possible for the city to buy the complex and then shut it down.. but that a whole other can of worms.

Then it was brought up that there are only 2 weeks to propose an alternative plan. Otherwise the current contact renews, I believe is how it works.

Then they sorta concluded the formal meeting/rally and left it open to discussion with whoever wanted to stay.
