Let's see ... 12,000 for the house. $50,000+ to lift it onto a truck and roll it to the suburbs. $100,000 for a plat of land in the burbs. That wouldn't be a bad deal for $162,000+. Heck, buy a $200,000 plat of land, and it would be $262,000, still a cool deal. |

Let's work this out ... would it be feasible, financially, to move a house like that somewhere else? Let's say, from Detroit to Rochester Hills. I do know it is possible to move a house as it is. Maybe this is a way to save the old homes. |

No. It's not feasible. Maybe if you were moving it around the block, but that would be ridiculous. Besides, why would you want to move it? Most of the homes in that neighborhood are just as nice as that one. If you get enough people who care about their neighborhood you could easily have another Indian Village. I know that the LaSalle Garden/Virginia Park area has a lot of nice houses, so I wouldn't doubt that there is at least some sort of neighborhood organization, and maybe even a private security/neighborhood watch program. In any case, I would rather live there than in Rochester Hills... |

BTW, I find it strange that such a large house would only have 1 bathroom. I wonder if you could cut into one of the smaller bedrooms and make that a "master bath".;) |

Yep, we figured real quick if we bought it one of those bedrooms would become a bathroom. If you type in the address on windows virtual earth you can shift different views of each side. The house is a monster and the houses around it are quick beautiful. Appears to have an enclosed porch on the back. |

Hudkina said: "I wouldn't doubt that there is at least some sort of neighborhood organization, and maybe even a private security/neighborhood watch program." I have wondered that myself. If not my last few years in law enforcement was spent in community relations and I set up several neighborhood watches in Atlanta. Wouldn't mind doing it again. Still got my carry permit for the private security part. |
