Django-- The Michigan Central Depot is a railroad station just south of Michigan Ave. near Tiger Stadium. It has been closed for 20 years and is currently owned by a slumlord who also owns the Ambassador Bridge.

thats nice of you to offer but I really dont think thats necessary. This place is wide open. Ive run into cops there before. If you have a camera and just seem to be exploring they dont care. There pretty cool about that. You dont want to be driving inside the buildings with a truck and tools. Other than that its all good. It can be a bit clausterphobic just to let you know everyone.

Oh, your talking about the train station. I get it now. Thank you.
Ive been in there quite a few times. If you have any idea where an entrance might be located, id be interested. I know of a few short steam tunnels, very cramped, not all that interesting. Just a lot of old steam pipe. That building can be dangerous, Anyone goin in there, bring proper lighting, with a backup of somesort. I once had to find my way out with a bic lighter from wayyy up there. The elevator shafts can be deadly. I dont recommend this building for the novice.

The old Boblo building which I believe is on Fort, or possibly Jefferson is also fun. Watch out for security though. They have a watch on it from the next yard over. Daylight is the best time I think. I like to be very open about what I do so I dont get mistaken for a scrapper. Its been a while since Ive been in there. They may have it fenced off by now. Used to be wide open.

For the Record, I used to scrap. I had a code unlike many today. Not proud of my past. Just didnt want to come off like a hypocrite

Dont think we need any radios. Well all be together. I want a small group. You can put them in the trunk just in case though.

SofD
Ive been down there quite a few times. I believe it to be safe. The walls and ceilings are solid. No pits to fall in. You have to watch your step unless you want a soaker. Im pullin out my rubber boots but there not all that necessary. A good flashlite is most important. I go with a great little find at Murrays. Its a small 3" led. About $10, very reliable. I actually lost the last two so I have to go get a new one.

If you can navigate with a flashlit through the dark thee should be no problem. These tunnels are directly underneath the street. They havnt caved in yet.

Sorry Mauser, I didnt understand at first, Your talkin about the Train Station. Right??

SofD, I havnt gotten any responses, its still early but I dont want to go and make ppl change their plans. Unless I get a bunch of Okie Dokies, Im going to keep it on for Friday at 5:30 pm. Im sure we can work something out. If you got a 12 pack Ive got the time. Ive got a very loose schedule for the moment, I live nearby, and I love going in there as well as meeting new ppl. Especially friends of Lowells. If I get five of the current ppl to say Saturday is Ok with them by Midnite tonite, Ill change it to Saturday. Otherwise its on for Friday 5:30pm

Go ahead and keep it Friday. I'm gonna swing by the Festival at Hart Plaza on Saturday instead. I'll make a post in the connect section trying to get something together either at the festival of elsewhere around the CBD (if one isn't planned already for Saturday).

I'll check it out another time.

Oh and I'm not really a personnel friend of Lowell's or anything like that. Unless of course he considers all DetroitYES members his friends, lol.

KICKASS, I get to pick the beer, Hmmmmm, PBRs fine.

Central Depot is another story. I havnt been there in a while, I would think my old opening is still there as it was pretty well hidden but the safety issue concerns me. I got to think about that one.

Okay, are we on for tomorrow at 5:30, at Ledgends? I dont want to show up to give a runthrough for myself, as Ive already been there. If theres someone who has an extra flashlite, I need one. I recently had mine stolen.
