Could you be more specific? There are at least 50 places in the CBD alone that match that criterion. There are thousands in the Detroit metro area.

Welcome Timmyjohn. Now every time I see your name I'm going to yell "TIMMAY!" in my head. Thanks South Park.

I'm out of state, but the soul food buffet sounds good.

Ndavies, I bet Timmy wants you to say which restaurant(s) we each like best which fit into the pricing parameters he/she has set. It is kind of a vague request, but that's what I think he/she meant.

One of many, many more....

You cannot say you've been to Detroit; you can't say you are from Detroit...without visiting Baker's Keyboard Lounge - at 8-Mile & Livernois. Baker's menu and entertainment value is one of America's Best.

You can get good reasonable Mexican a lot of places, but I really like Taqueria Mi Pueblo on Dix near Springwells and Taqueria Mi Tierra on Warren near Southfield in Warrendale. Suburban Mexican, Taco Loco on Van Dyke and 24 Mile Rd. They also have a branch at Crooks near M59.
Good reasonable Polish food on Michigan Ave is Starlite, between Livernois and Lonyo. If you want Polish in the suburbs, Two Sisters in Downtown Rochester is the best.

Favorite Thai = Sala Thai on Russell
Favorite Indian = Sizzle & Spice on Monroe

You could always check out one of the new super-celebrity restaurants: Wolfgang Puck Grille at the MGM Grand or Iron Chef Michael Symon's Roast & Book Cadillac- anyone else have any experience w/ either of these places?

Downtown:
Cyprus Taverna on Monroe is my favorite restaurant in Greektown (by far!). The specials are always amazing and the wine is reasonably priced.

El Comal on W. Vernor has great Central American cuisine--fun to try.

Angelina's is right at this price point--I had lunch there (for less) and was impressed. Try the pork shoulder pizza. If you're alone, they have a nice big bar.

My girlfriend and I are going to see A Bronx Tale at the Fisher Theater and want to eat before hand. It does not have to be by The Fisher but we want to eat Downtown.

Thanks for the help.

Mario's on 6th and Cass has great food, and they have a shuttle to the theater, and will even keep your leftovers chilled until they pick you up afterward.

There's no such place as Sixth and Cass.

Mario's is located on Second Avenue.

Cuisine on Lothrop is well outside the 20 - 35 dollar price range. Dropped $125 there and left hungry.

Mario's is a good choice, but Timmyjohn should just grab a bite at one of the places inside the Fisher. It doesn't sound like he has spent a lot of time there, and the girlfriend even less, so in my humble opinion he should arrive an hour or two before the show and wander around.

There is a long-standing tradition of smooching your sweetie on the mezzanine bridge overlooking the main floor. A very romantic view.

As far as I'm concerned, if you're going to the Fisher there should be no question as to where to dine before the show. It has to be Cuisine.

BTW, I had a pretty good lunch at that Motown Soul Food place in the Fisher building. Anybody try it for dinner? Nice space.

Cuisine is great, but it's going to top out well over this price range.

White Castles in a pinch can be mighty tasty, but is it just me but why is it they seem to take forever in the drive-thru? Other fast food places are blazing fast compared to them. Why is that?

Wolfgang Puck's at the MGM is very good. It's expensive ($9 soup, $15 hamburgers, and the prices go up from there (that's at lunch.) They also have thin crust individual pizzas with unique toppings; haven't tried them but I'm told they are delicious. I've been there 5 or 6 times when I'm in Detroit. Despite the prices, because the portions are large and the food is delicious, it doesn't hurt so much. Must have the squash soup; to die for.

The ambience is great and the staff is very friendly.

Smogboy, you obviously havenn't been thru a KFC Taco Bell drive thru. KFC is notoriously slow, and then you add burritos?? :-)

Steak in the pepper corn sauce at Wolfgang Puck's is one of the best I've ever had anywhere. It way better then the steakhouse at the MGM. Bring some money with you ( or win it at the tables ) That place ain't cheap , but , it sure is tasty ! ( No more expensive then Ruth's Chris actually )

Instead of getting a hamburger at Wolfgang's try the rib eye steak sandwich. It's only a couple of bucks more and it's out of this world.

Timmy-
A couple options in midtown that should fit your price range and are in the general neighborhood of the Fisher. There are many more options if you expand to the general downtown area, but here are a few close-by options:

Union Street
Majestic Cafe
Traffic Jam

All are reliably good food and not as expensive as Cuisine. I'd throw Twingos into this group, but haven't been there since their management change & reopening, can't vouch for the food or service. Enjoy.

Hamtragedy, I can almost cut the KFC folks some slack for taking some time to fry up the chicken SOMEWHAT fresh. No one wants re-heated, sun lamped fried chicken. Burritos should be a breeze though. I'm still perplexed at the White Castles for their perpetual slow service- considering they must have those things on the griddle at a somewhat regular intervals. And the fixings on them aren't that tricky either!

The only thing after the digesting a sack of the White Castles, some of the other bodily functions also seem to move a little more briskly too. Woooo!
