driving home this evening i heard a news story about the VERY serious ship hijackings off the coast of yemen and somali. glancing out the car window my son and i spied a ship in the lake st claire shipping channel. it was pitch dark and all you could make out were the ships running lights. i thought HOW much commerce goes through the detroit river channel? now there's the plot line to a bad elmore leonard botched detroit crime novel in there somewhere. the clumsy criminals, the drunken captain / pilot parking the vessel between the casino in windsor and the GM headquaters ( i can see the GM executives trying to figure out if they can fund the bail-out with the insurance money ) the jurisdiction squabbles between the U.S. and canada, the ransom note ( via text messaging ) getting lost amongst all the booty call messages to the mayor. yep i hear the phone call from hollywood any minute now... ;-) |

Back in better days (1980's), I lived on Lake St. Clair and day dreamed about a Russian or Kazakstan Freighter going through the lake, and a 32' Scarab with twin 454 ci. engines and a crew of HOT 20 something babes in thong bikini's helping the Russian crew members jump ship to a new life in America. Wait - it's already been done.

My eyes! My eyes! Ok, I'm not from Detroit, but have enjoyed reading the posts on this forum & trying to gauge how things are going up there(I'm very Pro on the Detroit 3). Taking a cue from the subject, how about the Coen Brothers getting involved along the lines of "Fargo"? |
