Dude, you omitted the best part: "Police said the building was operating an illegal after hours establishment that provided prostitution and sold liquor and narcotics. Police said in addition to the arrests, they confiscated 17 vehicles, one firearm, more than $11,000 and 10 bags of marijuana valued at $1,000." |

I wonder what's the chances of the RIC funk night being raided. Maybe all that "Best Party in America" pub was a bad idea! |

I thought that was a nice building? Is this not a good place to consider moving if thinking about downtown? |

I have been to Diamonds and Pearls a few years ago. It was fun because it was just me and my 5 friends in there, it must of been when thye just opened and we slid across the new wood floor and the girl running it let us raid the fridge full of beer no charge. Then as the night went on, she showed us the "web page" of ladies. I kind of got a kick out of the whole deal. I have also seen pornos filmed in that building on another floor. The lofts in there are very nice but kind of costly. Either way I've never seen any problem outside of the building so I say leave them alone compared the the problems we are facing these days, paying for sex is no big deal. |

Wow, they learned something. Don't raid a blind pig in the summer, do it in the winter. |

My apartment had it's window overlooking the surface lots off Griswold that held the cars for that spot for the past two years. Trust me, it hasn't been cookies and happiness after hours. Not sure if it's the cause of Clark or the strip joint, but there has been ruckus before. However, unlike the crap that goes down at Bleu or State Theatre, didn't hear any gunplay. |

"10 bags of marijuana valued at $1,000" Who takes a $100 bag of weed to a bar, blind pig or not? 10 people, at that? |

There've been a number of 'Blind Pigs' operating in downtown over the years, and almost all of them were run by Bert. None of the others ever survived because they were all busted eventually. Bert has never been busted. He has the 'magic' touch. I was in an after hours joint one night and it got raided by Detroit's funniest. They held everyone while they searched the premises for gambling, drugs, and hookers(for their own use, I presume). After writing up the owner, they finally let everyone loose. As the patrons headed out the door they were all yelling,'lets go to Berts'. The DPD didn't hear or see anything. They weren't going to touch that one. |

Numbers didn't last all that long and it wasn't downtown. I drove by recently and it looked beat up and close to becoming abandoned. Too bad. That was a nice building and a nice block of businesses. |

So they're called "blind pig" because the Police look the other way? :p Glad this one didn't start a riot, but I'm not sure people are densely packed enough to effectively riot anymore, at least not to the extent of 1967. |
