You know, I hate to sound like one of those old farts who doesn't like change, but frankly, ever since the Concert of Colors left Chene Park, which had that nice breeze off the river, was kid friendly (the grass), and moved to the asphalt-ankle twisting-hundred degree concrete-jungle mostly indoor venue that is the Max Fisher Center....(sorry for the run on sentence).........I've lost my interest.

I understand that trying to promote the Orchestra Hall campus is a reason to have this event there, and the music is still great, but, honestly, I really miss the Chene Park venue. ACCESS is a great organization (they've sponsored every Concert of Colors), and this is another great FREE festival which makes our summer-times here so enjoyable.

Why did it move? I heard one of the casinos bought the rights to it, but I thought this was Parks & Rec. Does the City have limited interest (lack of funding)? What happended? This was a great festival which has fallen off of my radar, largely due to the lack of the riverfront, which was relaxed and grassy (i.e. bring the blanket and the kids).

-Not an old fart. (I hope).

I don't know why the festival was moved to the Fisher Center, but I certainly agree that Chene Park was the perfect site for the Concert of Colors.

Yes, Chene Park was the perfect fit for the Concert of Colors. I heard this was of course caused by the city and now the person who has exclusive rights to run the venue. I would say that it is the most under used venue in the U.S.

I heard that the concert of colors and chene could not come to an agreement and if the couldn't find another venue then it would have ended, so wanting to keep it in detroit they came to an agreement with Max fisher.

Out of curiosity, does Chene Park still have a summer concert series in general?

They should have moved Concert of Colors to Hart Plaza. I liked it at Chene Park.
