everytime there is a festival downtown,i see alot of women wear dresses so short it's above their butts,or if it falls below their butt, they still can't bend over,i guess festivals just allow people to feel more free. |

At least your not here in hillbilly heaven where you will find some of the sloppy queens. Baggy pull over tops, baggy elastic shorts and flip flops. |

well at leat no one dresses sloppily, but you'd think they'd cover a little more, because festivals are family events where people bring kids. |

Bearinabox, this is a very important topic, my friend. Ladia, are you on a festival committee to bring more people downtown? Because if there is a load of woman with these short skirts as you describe, I haven’t seen them. But then again I am usually with the wife, so eyes forward. Can you (or any one) please provide us with some photos? |

L O L ! Detroit: Land of the Booty-Skirt But, really, totally pointless, random thread. I hear Afghanistan's looking for monied residents. You can clad yourself in a burqa and never see a rear-end again, if you'd like. (Message edited by lmichigan on June 24, 2008) |

Ladia, just how much are you exaggerating? I've certainly seen some revealing clothing, but I don't think anyone wears dresses that expose the butt (outside the bedroom). |

maybe the point of this whole thread is to bring more people (or at least, more men) to festivals downtown. |

Is a burqa considered to be booty in a bag? |

whenever I'm downtown at a festival, I seem to miss the shorty short shorts, unfortunately, and instead, my eyes are "graced" by the very large women in the very not so large top. I mean are you that poor that you can't afford a little extra fabric, or are you really just that darn sexy...? |

Sludgedaddy, No, it's not a booty-in-a-bag it's a surprise grab-bag; you never know what you're going to get. |

I found myself Saturday walking behind a very overweight woman at River Days who chose to wear a very short, very thin white dress, with patterned undies beneath. It was painful to look at even before the rain hit. |

I don't think it's the weight that is the target of the joke, but rather the poor choice of attire (or lack thereof). |

It sounds like the point being made here is that people have no class, or not enough anyway. They don't mind going out in public looking very tasteless and trashy. Wheres our self-respect? And who in the hell said it was ok to wear flip-flops anywhere but the beach? That is the worst fashion faux pas ever, and people wear the damn things in the most inappropriate places. No lie: If I saw a semi-attractive woman in ordinary shoes and a drop-dead gorgeous one in flip-flops, Id consider the less-attractive one first. |

Class? It's a festival in the middle of a very hot Summer. How can anyone have class at one of these things? For starters, you sweat bullets. As far as self respect, it would seem they might just have more (especially if they are not what society often considers attractive). They are so comfortable with their bodies and sexuality, that they feel comfortable just being themselves, and wearing what they like. I mean, a Summer festival is one of the few times I would say dressing like that is acceptable. Now the sandals... again, in the middle of Summer at an outdoor festival, I see no issue. Unless of course they were wearing socks with the flip flops. That is another story. |

I think we agree that Detroit has some of the worst dressers out there. We also have some of the most unattractive people who seem to like to bruise our eyes with their ensembles. What I want is photographic evidence of some of these hot Detroit woman dressed the way Ladia climes they do: bootie dresses et al. So please, post 'em if ya' got 'em. (Paging Southen) |
