Wasn't there a giant swarm at a ballgame a few years ago?

Where do you live? I was working in my studio this afternoon in Downtown Detroit, and was scared out of my wits by a HUGE brownish grey moth

Post a photo, I'll try to help.

Last year it was armyworm moths. Harmless, move up from the south and like to lay eggs in the grass. Hence, there were lots at Comerica Park. ESPN had me on twice to explain it!

This is the right time of year for armyworm moths, true, but they aren't really huge, are they? About an inch or two across the wingspan.

If in the inch or two range, they also could be gypsy moths, about the same size and the males are grayish brown.

Funny thing is that this year was a dud as far as fish fly swarming goes. Only saw about a dozen so far here in St. Clair Shores this summer. Maybe the rain and prevailing winds kept them closer to the water.

It's summertime. Bugs happen!

There will always be upward and downward trends in the numbers according to what's occurring in their environments.

I live downtown....
I think they are gypsy moths....
I have a cherry tree that has rotting fruit on it...
I rake up what falls to the ground...but...
I wonder if that has anything to do with them..
They are nesting quietly now in the tree.

The Moths are coming! Can the seagulls be far behind?

I predict a no-hitter at Comerica this week. It happened with Verlander a year ago.
