Everybody knows what a great rhythm section history Detroit has. Good guitarists will always be out there, but two musicians functioning as one, just melding and groovin'........ahhhhh wish I could go! Bass is ace!

How can I leave this behind?????

As a 12 year veteran of the Detroit rock scene I have to say...why isn't Troy Gregory, Steve Nawara, Carl from Hotness, Tony Muggs (and many more!) involved in this? It is obviously an awesome line up of acts...but genre-wise, it is limited. Especially considering it's at the Magic Stick where rock bands rule. Where are the reps from Detroit's rock scene?

PS -- I'm not trying to be critical (this is an awesome idea!). Just making an observation. This is an awesome line up as-is.

Those Detroit rock scene reps are probably playing somewhere around Detroit, Melody. Unlike most jazz or 'other' bassists.
Marion had a Bass Quartet, or even Quintet, back in the 80's. Really Interesting group. So did another Detroit bassist whose name escapes me...
The Detroit jazz bass tradition is formidable - equal to the pianist pantheon...
