Whats happening in the D the rest of the summer? Any exhibits; art fairs; community events etc. I know the Russel Industrial Center is going to have that big art show in Sept? I believe. Whats happening downtown? Anything? Include any event minor or small in this thread. Whether it be an open mike night at a coffee house or a large neighborhood happening.

We have some grand openings soon.

Russell Bazaar opens Labor Day.

Is that the same time as Dally in the Alley?

Shopping, (or operating a booth for a few of you/us) followed by a visit to the festivities, will be fun.

Hamtramck Labor Day Festival is your most interesting, and cheapest bet for Labor Day weekend. For less than $20 you can down a few beers, have some pierogi and take your girl on the ferris wheel, plus see a bunch of great local bands www.hamtramckfestival.org

Dally in the Alley is Sept. 6.

You can find literally hundreds of events any weekend at http://events.detnews.com -- just type in the date and city and take your pick.

7-9 tonight - the Recovery Band at Cafe con Leche - 2826 Bagley in the Mexicantown Mercado - free - it's a nice little independent, family-owned coffee shop if you've not been there, and the Recovery Band is a lot of fun if you've not seen them
1-6 sunday - Clark Park - First Low-Rider hop

About that Bass Fest....

Brandon Rose is a well behaved ten year old wonder child. He is a ten year old in every way except for the way he plays. I set him up to attend a clinic hosted by Christian McBride.

When he got back, I asked him what Christian thought and he struggled to say; "he said I was phenomenal." He didn't even know what the word meant. Keep an eye out for this wonderful child.
